We’ve loved being part of this community for thirty-eight years. We have felt totally in our element as we relished the ethnic, racial and cultural diversity of the community.
Then you rallied during the ICE invasion. You gave rides to frightened neighbors, shopped groceries for sheltered-in-place friends. You supported small businesses struggling due to the invasion. You prepared food pastries for the folks honoring the fallen at their memorials. You were undaunted by the heavy-handed tactics of the invaders. When they lied about targeting criminals and instead conducted sweeps on innocent brown people, you called them on it. When they pushed you down, you got right back up and stood defiantly to face them. You refused to back down. You exercised your right to free speech with courage and conviction. And you stood at the memorials of Alex Pretti and Renee Good in extreme temperatures to honor their lives and their sacrifice.
In the process, you set an example for the rest of the nation.
We are more proud than ever to be part of this strong community.
